This is a group for reading and discussing published poetry. It is not a writing group. We are one of the longest-running Groups, meeting nearly every month since the inception of chu3a. We meet in the Leader’s home for a couple of hours of sociable reading of published poems on a particular theme, period or an individual poet (decided at the previous meeting). Some are traditional topics, eg summer, flowers and families, but we have also chosen the themes of climate change, fire, promises.and occupations. Members choices range from the classic to the contemporary, the severe to the humorous, the familiar to the obscure, the epigramatic to the lengthy ballad. Sharing and discussing the ideas in the poems and the reactions they provoke - rather than any academic analysis - makes poetry accessible and relevant to everyone. | | |
