Professor Joyce Hill
The artistic beauty of medieval manuscripts still delights us today. We admire the intricacy, the vibrant colours, the reflective gold, and the calligraphy of the text. But do we often stop and think about how they created the colours, applied the gold, made the ink, and -at an earlier stage in the preparation - created the parchment writing surfaces from the skin of a calf or young sheep? These are the questions that Professor Hill will be answering in her illustrated talk.
MARY SHARP.
Listen to her interesting life experiences from a child evacuee as an 8 yr old in 1940 to her life as a call girl ( phone) through to a life in crime in the CID. Fascinating lived experience of things we only see on films and read in books. Interesting as a stand alone talk but also added interest to all coming on the Bletchley Park trip.
