The history of the Women's Institute

Did people know that the Womens Institute was established in this country in1915, making it 125years old next year. Set up during the 1st world war and have worked tirelessly ever since on a national level driving change on many important issues.

Every decade they have done incredible work like state housing, equal pay, food production, keep Britain tidy, war effort, recycling, homelessness, mental health in prisons.

What’s happening now on National, Yorkshire down to local groups and missions going forward. Learn, enjoy, socialise, share. It’s non political and works for everyone.

Who can forget Calendar Girls and how they all pulled together to support raise awareness and fund raise.

So hopefully a thought provoking ,interesting talk not just for women!
