• Car parking is limited on site and we encourage car sharing and / or public transport wherever possible. I would advise that if there is a shortage of space for parking on the day, you could utilise the coach parking which is usually available.
• If you are arriving on foot please ensure that you use the pedestrian gate to access the site.
• Please arrive about 9.50am in order to start the tour at 10.00am On arrival at site, please report immediately to reception. Unaccompanied access to other areas is strictly prohibited.
• Do any members of the group struggle with heights or have mobility issues? Please be aware that there are in excess of a 100 stairs and grilled walkways within the operational plant itself, and a reasonable level of fitness is needed to complete the full tour.
Visitors with respiratory or cardiac conditions, or who suffer from vertigo, may struggle.
Anyone who uses a walking stick or other mobility aid will unfortunately not be able to complete the tour.
Due to health and safety constraints, if our host has any concerns whatsoever regarding mobility issues, the visitor/s in question will be unable to participate in the tour of the operational areas..
• For Health and Safety reasons, arms and legs must be covered for the site tour, therefore, ladies should wear trousers as opposed to skirts or dresses. Visitors will be required to wear the provided PPE (personal protective equipment), hard hats, hi-vis, safety glasses and gloves. Sensible, flat, closed toe, lace up boots with a sturdy sole (eg walking boots, not trainers) must be worn. Alternatively, safety boots can be provided. Gentlemen should not wear shorts.
Safety Rules
On the visit day a Veolia representative is required to explain the site rules, fire safety and what to do in an emergency to the visiting group before the visit activities start. We are a non-smoking site, including the car park and perimeter boundary of the site.
All visitors must act in a responsible manner to avoid any injury which may be caused due to lack of concentration
Estimated timings for a standard visit are two hours, including presentations and videos, however these may vary depending on the type of visit.
Fire Safety information
● The fire muster point will be identified to the group at the start of your visit.
● If an alarm bell sounds at any time during the visit, all visitors should walk quickly and quietly to the muster point and wait in an orderly manner.
Emergency Procedures
●The visit organiser will take charge in an emergency, in liaison with the Veolia Representative.
● An assessment of the situation will be made and immediate medical attention sought.
● The relevant emergency service should be called.
●Also any other persons who needs to know about the incident should be informed.
● The Visit Organiser, or other responsible adult, will accompany casualties to hospital.
● The rest of the group should remain together and be supervised by accompanying supervising adults. Visitor Centre / Viewing Walkway Activities
There are a number of activities available in the Visitor Centre. All activities have been assessed for risk, health and safety and for teaching content.
Photography
During the activities and at the end of the session, photographs may be taken in the Visitor Centre only, for use by Veolia and yourselves. We ask you to complete the photo permission form below.
Photography and the use of mobile phones on the site tour itself is strictly prohibited.
