Visit and Guided Tour of Leeds City Centre Library
A guided ,one hour, tour around the oldest independent library in the UK. Founded in 1768 and in its current home since 1808. The library is a fascinating mix of old and new and only recently opened up an extension allowing it to now house over 14,000 books and artifacts previously stored off site.
The tour is 11am to 12 noon with free time afterwards to browse at your leisure. Meet outside the Library at 18 COMMERCIAL ST, LEEDS LS1 6AL at 10.50
At 1pm there’s the opportunity to eat at the nearby Cosy Club on Albion St. It serves a wide selection of foods with a Mediterranean style menu.
Cost : £5 for the tour.
Payment can be made online, pay at one of the Monday meetings or by sending a cheque made out to Cookridge and Horsforth U3A and send to Barbara Macbeth the Treasurer
Lunch is paid for individually.
Please Note: The building has a stair lift from the foyer to the Library on the first floor but no actual lift. The toilets do not have step-free access and there is no disabled toilet.
